Yeah, I'm pissed as hell. Anyone with any sort of neurological difference, or who loves someone with any sort of neurological difference, should be too.
On May 9(or was it 11?) a really disgusting organization that conceitedly calls itself "autism speaks" (without any autistic involvement) put out a video on the horror of autism. Tantrums, looking out a window (horror of horrors!), a mother declaring with her autistic child in her lap that the only reason she didn't drive off a bridge with her was because she had a normal daughter at home.
A few days later, the murders started. First was Katie McCarron, who was 3 years old. We don't know anything about KATIE, just about her poor poor mother, who is now on suicide watch (probably trying for an insanity defense, I say drug her in jail.) But we don't know anything about Katie apart from how she died.
Yesterday news came out of parents locking their autistic 19 year old in their apartment, and torching it. He died of severe burns.
And finally, a mother jumped off the bridge with her 12 year old son.
AND EVERYONE IS DEFENDING THE MURDERERS. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO! NOTHING makes killing your kid ok. NOTHING.
Argh. And Im just wiped from all the letters emails and stuff.

Kassi, when you told me about this video a while back I was floored. How could she sit there and say those things in front of her child......and why are these people targeting autistics? I don't understand.
And now, since that video aired, the murders of these three autistic children have followed......at the hands of their own parents.
As Kassi and many of you know, my older son has Aspergers Syndrome, a form of autism. This story has hit very close to home.
But this really isn't a new story at all.

That is completely sick and wrong. These people need to be dealt with and locked up forever.
Unbelievable Scary and sick. |

I'm speechless!!! I really don't have any words to describe how disgusted I am.
It never ceases to amaze me of the evil that people can conceive of. Horrifying. |

Every day hundreds if not thousands are murdered at local "clinics" in America.

| Quote: |
| Severe autism isn't an easy thing to cope with. The parents probably did need help and there just isn't any. They wrote an awesome autism waivor but forgot to fund it. Lets not forget to mention the evil looks from "normal" people when your autistic child is out and about in normal places (ooo you need to spank him! don't you know how to make him Behave!) It's a community crime. For all the people that cry foul please go out and babysit an autistic child for 1 day. It twerks me. |
I WORKED WITH A NONVERBAL SEVERELY AGGRESSIVE BOY FOR 3 YEARS.
DONT tell me I don't know autism. And the mother in the Katie McCarron case killed her after being with her for less than 2 weeks. THat family had PLENTY of supports.
If you think this is acceptable I suggest turning your child over to foster care. I am not kidding, I've been calling CPS on people for defending the murder of the disabled for years.
| Quote: |
| Crimes happen with normal children, too yet you are not posting about those. Obviously I'm against murdering any child, but I think to say any particular kind of slaying is on the rise is a bit silly as there are equally as many "normal" children perishing too. |
Watch me be mean:
THREE IN 2 DAYS IS NATIONAL NEWS. Or should be.
God, we're STILL hearing about JonBenet Ramsey and that was a decade ago. The country gets in an UPROAR about kids being killed.
But if theyre disabled they always have people like you to say it's OK, or excusable.
It's NEVER excusable. EVER. Murderers do not deserve sympathy. Those MURDERED deserve sympathy. It takes twistedness beyond anything in the DSM to think that killing a child to make YOUR LIFE EASIER is OK, or even excusable. Again, if you think it is, time to look into foster care.

My Mom and Dad were foster parents for years some of the things we saw were
unbelievable we got children that the state took away from there parents. If you are a
parent that can not take care of your child please do something before it gets so bad that the
state has to take them away. |

I'm with you Bob, there are so many other options out there with the Social Services system.
Many states have systems directed at "developmental disabilities" directly and provide respite care and a ton of other services.
There was no need for this . . . this is horrible. |

A LOT of people in the autism blogosphere are STILL pissed off about the coverage of the Katie McCarron case in particular (all the whineyautiemommies defending her, some who have 40hrs a week state paid babysitting IN ADDITION to school. I know this because I WORKED 40h/week with one of the kids one summer).
And her grandfather is livid. So I put up a page in her memory at www.rettdevil.com/katiemccarron.html.
It isn't justice by a long shot, but at least it's how the grieving family wants her remembered. Her grandfather gave personal approval.

Way to go Kassi. So proud of you for all you do.
I am still just speechless that anyone could feel anything but totally appalled by this. |

This whole thing about the murders was at first numbing top me. then I read the links and it worked my need to strike back at the monstrous people who could do such a thing. I know I lady who threw her three kids off the Ben Franklin bridge in Philadelphia and she is living in a mental institution, with no worries on her head. She comes from a very good family who have found it hard to deal with the evilness of it all.
This thread has left me feeling useless and exhausted.
